So I was emailed(Wait how’d the internets get my address?) a question last week. The question was:<summarized>I like your web site it seems kinda interesting. However what is up with the incoherent Mikes Links Monday feature? The links and pictures are all over the place and what is with animated gifs? Have you not heard of flash or the new silverlight? Please stop making the internets an ugly place. </summarized>

I agree the Mikes Links Monday are a hodge podge of ideas that just fall out. Especially the pictures. The pictures are found all over the crazy cloud of data we all call the internet. Yes I have heard of the great little technologies of flash as well as silverlight. However animated gifs save bandwidth and just well are awesome (another term from the 80’s). Some one told me that my web site was too corporate at one time so I thought making it look like a myspace page at least once a week would make me more popular. I try to keep a bit of sarcasm and a lighter feeling with my links monday so that I do not become another link blog. So if I offend please send me your ip address as I will sniff for ip addresses onload (or when you hit my page) and write special css (cascading style sheets (you know the code that makes your website pretty?)) for your ip address that will hopefully make your experience here a joyful one. As always please send me your email as long as it isn’t another pharmacy ad or something that can make a special part of me larger (my brain). Mikes Links Monday 6/23/08

Sad news today. George Carlin Died of Heart Failure. He brought us the 7 deadly words. Most of what the FCC use as their rules for over the air.

Been fighting with Spyware for better over a week now. Have 4 workstations and 3 servers with a nasty little trojan. I had the name of it. However I have lost my notes on it. Publish it later. Sorry.

So the final nail in the coffin for Yahoo. Multiple Chairmen and presidents are running not walking away. Looks like the shareholders will file class action lawsuit. The mystery still remains: What is Yahoo hiding that they were afraid that Microsoft would see? Looks like it might not matter. A few futurists are planning for the Apple take over of both Microsoft and Google (Applications as well as media). Microsoft discounts Apple as the pretty little machine maker not much else.

Almost forgot the Woot off this past week was the Crappiest Crap ever and I mean just the crap that was for sell made it hard to follow. No word yet on the Bag of Crap contents.

Mikes Links Monday 6/9/08

Yes your seeing it. I missed a week. I know. Bad mike! Well here is my excuse if you want to know. I returned from So. Cal last Sunday night without any links due to all my wonderful hotels in So. Cal had 0 Internet access or at least had extremely dirty networks (please remove mind from gutter). I also had to work both jobs starting Sunday night late night. So there.

Here is my rant from my trip:

Please for the love of your money. Do not stay at the MGM/Mirage owned hotel casino (resorts). Very poorly managed and the service sucked rocks. Would not pay 400+ a night there again.

Also make sure you get a GPS device or spend some money on a map in San Diego. I don’t usually get lost in any city other than that one (however wow what a beautiful city).

So I now own 4 different types of MP3 Players. I know more than one is just wrong. Well I must tell you here at the mikedopp.com labs we make sure to buy in abundance err ok not so much. Back to the story. I know Joe will read this post and want to hit the edit button and correct my very bad grammar. Well I say no I am going to post this. So like I said 4 MP3 players: ZUNE, IPOD, Sandisk Sansa and Some really odd looking USB media device(looks like a usb thumb drive). In testing the playlists and uploading of music. I must say I digg the Sandisk over all even the blessed IPOD and its buddy Itunes. Ok moving on.

My Poll was unsuccessful. I think I will move back to XP or Other as everyone has voted.

This post is being posted late. However it is still monday so here goes.

I am a bit bugged with the Microsoft support of the xbox360. A friend of mine who also owns a xbox360 recently ran into a problem with his dvd drive. However there was no red ring of death just a this disc cannot be read: "media error". So a call went into microsoft’s always busy xbox help line. Long story short it took talking to the president of xbox products to get his live account refunded for the time it is in repair because it wasn’t RED RING OF DEATH. I was really starting to like Microsoft until this.

Mikes Links Monday 4/6/08

Last week was a week of trying to get a web.config that was configured to look at the root application to look at the host header.

What’s worse there is very little documentation and or help with the issues. Ah crap you all don’t want to here about that.

Ok finally made the jump to Adobe CS3 and to Windows Vista SP1. I am a bit impressed. Haven’t seen much of a enhancement in SP1 but CS3 finally works like it should.

Looks like Google is set to launch something big tonight. Sure I will be posting about tonight sometime.

Ever feel like the Internet just passed you by? What I mean is I keep hearing about the "Rickroll" what did I miss? Am I getting RickRolled by not knowing?

So in talking with some of my colleagues/peers concerning the whole blog movement. They tell me they don’t get it. So my question is what is there not to get? I mean its a journal about yourself and what you ate this morning right? Certainly not. It is a way to share with anyone listening(pod casting) or reading(RSS feeds) to learn something new or collaborate about what ever fits the blogger’s personality. I mean isn’t that what the Internet is about? The social I mean. Does not most engineers, mathematicians, doctors, lawyers or most the entire rest of what society considers genius individuals do? Log their experiences so that all can benefit?
